The financial issues faced by the University of the South Pacific are expected to continue with the Fiji Government making no budget allocation to meet its debts to the institution.
The Fiji Government has also refused to pay its grant for the past two years because of a rift with the vice chancellor, Pal Ahluwalia, who continues in the role despite being deported by the government.
But a man who worked for the USP for 40 years, economist Wadan Narsey, believes he has a solution.
Don Wiseman spoke with Professor Narsey who said the USP has been a significant example of the regionalism the Pacific Islands Forum is striving for.
