Samoa has entered a new era of gender equality in leadership with the swearing-in of three women MPs taking the number of women in the Legislative Assembly to seven.
The new Members of Parliament, one with the FAST party and two with the HRPP, increase the number of seats in the House to 54.
Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa congratulated the new female MPs and welcomed them saying 'it has not been an easy journey so far" but in the end the purpose of the law is to allow more women representatives in Parliament.
