The government of Niue has announced a date for a two-way quarantine free travel bubble with New Zealand.

From Monday the 27th of June, fully vaccinated passengers will be allowed to enter without isolation.

A tentative reopening date was originally set for July.

But Premier Dalton Tagelagi says Niue is ready with the opening of an Isolation Unit at Niue Foou Hospital and the completion of the vaccination program for five to 11-year-olds.

RNZ Pacific reporter Lydia Lewis spoke with longtime Niue resident and businessman Avi Reuben about the move.
