Bougainville remembers Aotearoa's Moana Jackson

Noted Aotearoa New Zealand lawyer and academic, the late Moana Jackson is being hailed as 'instrumental' in Bougainville's quest for self determination.

The Papua New Guinea region is now on the cusp of achieving its goal of independence, but when Moana Jackson travelled to Bougainville in the early 1990s it was gripped by an horrific civil war.

The secretary of the separatists' government, the Bougainville Interim Government, was Martin Miriori.

He told Don Wiseman Moana Jackson's advice was vital to Bougainville's political progress.
