Fiji's Ministry for Women and a human rights advocate has condemned the ongoing participation of a Fiji rugby sevens star, convicted of rape, in rugby competitions in the country.
Amenoni Nasilasila was jailed for eight years in 2019 for raping a 24-year-old woman in 2018 in Nadi.
Despite this he has featured in multiple rugby competitions while serving his sentence.
His latest appearance was last weekend at the Super 7's series at Nadi's Prince Charles Park where he played for the Wardens rugby sevens side.
I spoke with Fijian human rights advocate Shamima Ali who is appalled at his inclusion and calling for his immediate withdrawal.
