Pacific Islands leaders are being very careful not to take sides in the geopolitical sparring match between the United States and China.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, had an eight hour stopover in Fiji on Saturday where he met with Pacific Island leaders online.
It was the first visit by a US Secretary of State to Fiji since 1985.
