NZ border reopening too late for this years harvest

There has been an overwhelming positive response to the New Zealand Government's decision to reopen New Zealand's international borders. But not everyone is happy with its timing.

A senior official of New Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employers Scheme says the five-stage plan does not spell the end of challenges currently 'crippling the industry'.

Terry Meikle is the chief executive for NZ Apple and Pears, he told reporter Christine Rovoi more could and should have been done to avoid the crisis facing the 2021-2022 harvest season.
