Solomons health system stretched as covid cases pass 3000

As Covid-19 cases soar in Solomon Islands the prime minister has warned the outbreak will get worse.

Over 3000 positive cases have now been recorded in the country in the space of about three weeks.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says 430 cases had been identified on Friday alone.

There have been at least 33 official Covid-19 deaths recorded by the prime minister says this does not account for undiagnosed people who have died in their homes.

Mr Sogavare says all but three provinces have now reported cases of the virus and it could be rampant in the capital.
