A Tourism business owner in Vanuatu has welcomed the new investment fund announced by the New Zealand Government to support Covid-19 recovery in the Pacific.

The InvestPacific Fund will be the first private fund established exclusively targeting the Pacific that will seek to strengthen the region's investment environment, and enhance investment opportunities, the Government announced last week.

While details about the fund are limited at this stage, it is expected to attract almost $60 million - with the Government already committing an initial $17 million and an additional $40 million to come from private investment.

RNZ Pacific reporter Kelvin Anthony spoke about the fund and the state of tourism in Vanuatu with Greg Pechan, the owner of The Havannah Vanuatu resort on Efate Island.
