Marshalls and FSM affected by ocean flooding

From , 6:00 am on 8 December 2021

Three days of flooding throughout the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia, has caused little major damage but will require large-scale cleanups.

Some roads around Majuro were down to single lane traffic on Monday as heavy equipment was brought in to clear rocks and debris left by in-rushing tidal water.

The flooding, which started Saturday and continued through Monday night, resulted from a combination of ongoing sea level rise, a high tide, and strong winds.

Joining me is Giff Johnson our correspondent in the Marshall Islands, kia ora Giff tell us more about what has been happening?

The second day of high tide flooding in the Marshall Islands hit low-sections of Majuro Atoll Sunday afternoon, flooding properties but causing little damage.
