New Fiji health plans to benefit Pasifika - Aspen Medical

From , 6:01 am on 23 November 2021

An Australian company is undergoing an approval process to build and improve services at Fiji's hospitals despite not meeting the deadline set by the Fijian government.

Fiji's Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told the A-Gs conference last December that Aspen Medical had until June this year to fulfil their obligations under the contract.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said discussions had to be carried out after the Covid-19 pandemic affected the company's ability to meet their contractual obligations.

But Annette Owttrim of Aspen Medical says they are fully committed to managing the Ba and Lautoka hospitals under the public-private partnership with Fiji's National Provident Fund (FNPF).

Ms Owttrim told our Fiji correspondent Lice Movono the project will benefit not only Fijians but other Pacific islanders who come to work in Fiji.
