Palika party condemns France's insistence on Dec referendum

From , 6:00 am on 16 November 2021

New Caledonia's pro-independence Palika party says France's decision to maintain the referendum date amounts to a declaration of war against the Kanaks and progressive citizens.

On Friday, the French High Commissioner confirmed that the third referendum under the Noumea Accord will be held on  December 12th despite pleas by pro-independence parties to defer it until late next year because of the covid-19 pandemic.

My colleague Walter Zweifel has been following developments. Kia ora Walter so what has Palika been saying about France's insistence on going ahead with the referendum?
