Niue is sending a London based paediatric surgeon to present its statement to the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow next month.
Dr Dean Rex has been based in London for 15 years, working at one of the busiest hospitals in the city.
He is the grandson of the island's first premier, the late Sir Robert Rex, and has maintained close links with Niue.
Dr Rex told Don Wiseman covid was the catalyst for him being asked to make the Glasgow trip.
