Pay gap akin to Pasifika working for free for the rest of 2021

Recent analysis of the gender and ethnic pay gap by New Zealand's Council of Trade Unions has revealed huge disparities with one time-based analogy describing it as akin to Pasifika women working for free for the rest of the year.

It found on average Pasifika women earn 27.4 percent less than Pākehā men representing the biggest pay gap in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Human Rights Commission are conducting an inquiry into the disparities which to go back to the time-based analogy will also soon see Pasifika men working for free this year.
