Samoan traditional systems weathering political crisis

From , 6:03 am on 21 July 2021

A Samoan academic in New Zealand says one positive amid the political crisis in Apia is the underlying strength of traditional systems and structures.

Both the election winner FAST party and the caretaker HRPP continue to battle it out in the courts for the right to rule.

Meanwhile, electoral petitions are continuing with multiple by-elections already in the offing and more likely to be forthcoming this week.

To talk about some of the interesting outcomes from the election petitions I am joined by Victoria University senior lecturer of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations, Dr Iati Iati.

Talofa and welcome Dr Iati so quite a mixed bag of results coming from the electoral petitions so far?
