PNG environmentalists win battle against sand miner

Last week environmentalists in Papua New Guinea won a battle to stop sand mining along and around a 38 kilometre stretch of the Madang coastline.

Ten thousand people would have been affected in the Sumgilbar local government district, along with the nesting sites of the endangered leatherback turtle.
