New study shows decline in alcohol consumption by Pac men in NZ

A new study reveals that alcohol consumption by Pasifika men in New Zealand has declined overall, but they still meet the threshold for hazardous consumption.

The study is a review of published and grey literature from 2009 to 2019, looking at 30 relevant articles covering a large range of aspects of alcohol consumption by Pacific youth and adults.

The study shows some notable research and in-depth exploration of alcohol use and Pacific people.

However, persistent inequity in hazardous alcohol consumption indicates that an evaluation of the current interventions for Pasifika are long overdue.

Our reporter Sela Jane Hopgood studied the review and spoke to me about the findings.
