New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has unveiled a new cabinet with diversity front and centre.

Carmel Sepuloni, who has both Samoan and Tongan heritage, ranks the highest among the Pacific MPs and she has portfolios including social development and employment, ACC, arts  and disability issues.

Next is Cook Islander Poto Williams in charge of police, building and construction with associate work on the side.

Then there's Kris Faafoi with Tokelau heritage who has justice, broadcasting and media, and immigration.

Also in the mix is Samoan Aupito William Sio. While he is not in Cabinet this time around, he is still Minister for Pacific Peoples.
