A Cook Islands group protesting the government's plans to use chemicals to purify Rarotonga's water supply, has called on the Speaker, Nikki Rattle, to resign.
Te Vai Ora Maori wants the government to rethink using chlorine in the multi million dollar water reticulation system, Te Mato Vai.
It submitted a petition, with 1433 signatures, in July, expecting the points they raised would be considered by a select committee.
But Speaker Rattle didn't let it proceed.
She ruled that the use of the word "cease" suggested Te Vai Ora Maori was seeking a parliamentary injunction, something the group rejects
It has gone back to Ms Rattle but Te Vai Ora Maori's Andy Kirkwood told Don Wiseman she is not budging.
