Getting tough with Australian companies on human rights abuses

A human rights group in Australia is welcoming proposals that would strengthen laws in relation to abuses committed by Australian companies overseas.

A review of corporate criminal laws published by the Law Reform Commission on Monday, recommended the introduction of a "failure to prevent" offence for companies. 

This would apply to offences such as forced labour or human trafficking.
