Concerning Covid spikes in French Polynesia, PNG

From , 6:01 am on 13 August 2020

The number of Covid-19 infections in French Polynesia continues to rise, while in Papua New Guinea, the number of cases has now gone past 200.

Both places have seen worrying surges of infections in the past two weeks - while most of the Pacific still remains coroanvirus free.

In French Polynesia, 43 new cases have been confirmed since the 7th of August - with a significant cluster around the capital, Papeete.

Our reporter Johnny Blades says it comes only a few weeks after the territory became the first in the Pacific to reopen to tourists with no quarantine requirement.
