Cook Island communities in NZ celebrate language week uniquely

From , 6:00 am on 5 August 2020

Cook Island communities in New Zealand are celebrating their 9th year of the Cook Island language week in unique ways.

In Hamilton, there is a spin on the cooking television show My Kitchen Rules, but with a twist called My Kuki-Are Rules.

A group in Whanganui will be doing a beach clean up and planting in sandunes, as part of their movement to tackle plastic pollution in the South Pacific.

And a Cook Island elder runs language classes in Palmerston North to help keep the language alive.
