The Pacific Island battle against Covid-19 in the US

Dr Raynald Samoa is an endocrinologist of Pacific Island descent, who teaches and practises in southern California.

But in recent months much of his time has been taken up by his role as the clinical advisor to the National Pacific Islander Covid-19 response team.

Pacific Islanders, which comprise just a tiny proportion of the United States mainland population, make up a devastatingly higher percentage of those suffering and dying from Covid-19.
