Papua New Guinea's prime minister is seeking answers about how a covid-19 cluster emerged at the country's main hospital
James Marape has announced eight new covid-19 cases in the capital Port Moresby.
It takes PNG's total number of confirmed cases to 27, over half of them emerging in the past week.
Most of the new cases are health workers at Port Moresby General Hospital where all non-essential services have now been suspended.
Some of those infected were workers in the lab which handles samples for covid testing.
Mr Marape says he expects a report from the health secretary on why the workers became infected.
