Travel between New Zealand and some Pacific countries appears to be a step closer, with confirmation New Zealand officials are working on a "travel bridge" with the realm countries - Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau.
The concept would allow citizens to travel between the countries freely without managed isolation or quarantine.
It follows a phone call between Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her Cook Islands counterpart Henry Puna last night.
The Cook Islands Deputy Prime Minister, Mark Brown, told reporter Mackenzie Smith that he's hoping travel between Rarotonga and Auckland is possible by September.
