Autonomous seacraft to police Pacific fisheries

With the Covid-19 pandemic forcing the suspension of observers from fishing boats, Pacific tuna organisations are hoping technology will fill the gap.

A solution could soon be available from New Zealand robotics firm X-craft, which is trialling an autonomous seacraft to police the region's fisheries.

Ben Robinson Drawbridge spoke to X-craft's chief executive Philip Solaris about the Proteus prototype.
