ILO works with unions and employers to support redundant workers in Fiji

From , 6:02 am on 7 July 2020

The International Labour Organisation is working with employers and unions in Fiji to support the growing number of redundant workers in the country.

The UN agency estimates more than 100,000 workers in Fiji have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its latest impact assessment says these workers are either on leave without pay, unemployed or on reduced hours.

We heard last week from civil society organisations warning of a humanitarian disaster in Fiji and now Christine Rovoi reports, even in the best case scenario the International Labour Organisation is predicting continued large-scale job losses.
