Rights defenders targetted as racism against Papuans exposed

Indonesian human rights workers say racism remains a major problem in West Papua, and one which the government has been slow to tackle.

Last week a group of seven West Papuans, including pro-independence activists, were convicted on treason charges for their role in anti-racism protests last year.

Rights groups say the perpetrators of racist abuse, which sparked the protests, have not been held to account.
