Pacific families adapt to funeral changes in covid era

From , 5:01 am on 16 June 2020

Pacific families in New Zealand adapted well to the changes that had to be made to traditions and customs for funerals during the lockdown.

Under alert level four, only the bubble of the deceased was allowed to attend the funeral and in alert level three, the new rule allowed for a maximum of 50 people in attendance.

When the country went into alert level two, 100 people was the new limit, but now the country no longer has such restrictions.

Sela Jane Hopgood reflects on the challenges that were faced for the Pacific community grieving for their loved ones.
