Solomon Islands' outgoing High Commissioner to New Zealand says the country is ripe with opportunity for trade with the Solomons.

In 2014, Joy Kere, who is also Solomon Islands' first woman High Commissioner, was tasked with establishing her country's first permanent diplomatic mission in Wellington.

Mrs Kere, who finishes her term this week, says over the past six years she has had the privilege of travelling the length and breadth of Aotearoa and meeting and working with people from all walks of life.

She told Koroi Hawkins New Zealand's demographic and long history of trade with other Pacific countries make it the ideal candidate for increased trade with Solomon Islands.
