It's well documented that Pacific nations face big challenges over the coming decades as sea levels rise and the intensity of storm events such as tropical cyclones increase through climate change.
Less well known is the threat of coastal inundation, often caused by unusually high tides and large swells that originate from distant storms.
Now, the Pacific Community or SPC is developing ways for Pacific met services to predict coastal flooding.
The SPC's Moritz Wandres spoke to Moera Tuilaepa Taylor about the inundation forecast system.
