Solomons' businesses call for lower power tariffs

From , 5:01 am on 25 November 2019

Solomon Islands' Chamber of Commerce is calling for electricity tariffs to be lowered, saying they are among the highest in the world.

Electricity costs 79 US cents per kilowatt hour which the chamber says is 30 percent higher than in neighbouring Pacific countries.

The chamber's advocacy officer, John Kanai, told Koroi Hawkins the high cost of electricity is one of the biggest challenges for doing business in the country.
