Detention of asylum seekers at PNG's Bomana violation of law - NGO

The detention of about 50 asylum seekers in Papua New Guinea's Bomana Immigration Centre violates local and international law, says Human Rights Watch.

After six years on Manus Island, the asylum seekers were moved to Bomana three months ago where they are kept incommunicado, unable to access lawyers.

Six men have been released after agreeing to return to the countries they fled.

Human Rights Watch Australia director Elaine Pearson told Ben Robinson Drawbridge that efforts are underway to get legal support.
