Cook Islands seals rugby league world cup spot

From , 6:00 am on 19 November 2019

The Cook Islands has continued a hugely successful month for Pacific islands rugby league by qualifying for the 2021 World Cup.

The Kukis 38-16 win over the USA in Florida sealed their spot in the sport's top tournament.

It follows a month where both Papua New Guinea and Tonga defeated Great Britain, with the latter also beating the world champion Australians.

Kukis captain Brad Takairangi told Vinnie Wylie his team's win was ugly but hopefully it will be a launching pad for greater success.
