New Zealand's Otago University is celebrating a big lift in the numbers of Polynesian students studying health sciences.

It has outlined this progress in a book called Te Folauga - The Journey.

It was launched at Parliament in Wellington last week, led by three general practitioners from the same Niuean family.

Associate dean of (Pacific) Health Sciences Faumuina Fa'afetai Sopoaga, edited the book, and says in a world where people often focus on the negatives she wanted to showcase some Pacific success stories.

Associate Professor Sopoaga told Don Wiseman how significant that success is.
