Samoa the first Pacific country to win at the Rugby World Cup

Samoa were the first Pacific country to taste victory at the Rugby World Cup in Japan this week but also lost a key player of the tournament in the process.

The Manu survived two yellow cards and three serious injuries to secure a bonus point win a Russian side playing their second match in five days on Tuesday.

Samoa had trailed 6-5 at half-time after being reduced to 13 players but scored five second half tries to over the Russians.

During the match Samoa first five Tusi Pisi made history as the oldest player to represent the  Manu at a Rugby World Cup.

At 37 years and 98 days young, he beat the record previously held by the late, Peter Fatialofa, who was a key part of the teams of the 90s and who will be inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in November.

Pisi, who made his test debut back in 2006, is competing at his third Rugby World Cup and caught up with Vinnie Wylie after the win over Russia.
