Cook Islands flying doctor service solution to Pa Enua concerns

From , 3:01 pm on 3 September 2019

The Cook Islands Ministry of Health says its new flying doctor service, Kaveinga Ora, is the solution to concerns about medical care in the outer islands.

There have long been complaints about the paucity of services provided to the Pa Enua, with political parties all making rectifying this a plank in recent elections.

Most recently an MP complained that, with no doctors based in the outer islands a resident would need to be in a life threatening state before being medivacced to Rarotonga.

Don Wiseman spoke with the Cook Islands secretary of health, Josephine Herman, who explained the services Kaveinga Ora can provide.
