Nauru's election on Saturday has seen half of the previous parliament dumped, including the president for the past six years, Baron Waqa.
Mathew Batsiua, who is a veteran of Nauru politics and a member of the group, called the Nauru 19, that had been battling the previous government in the courts, failed to get re-elected.
But he has welcomed the results, telling Don Wiseman it's a call for dramatic change.
