The United Nations and the international community have been accused of being dishonest or too weak to help workers of Fiji.
Fiji's former prime minister and trade unionist Mahendra Chaudhry says the UN agencies are aware of the pressures against unions in the country but are not doing anything about it.
In the latest restriction in Fiji, a permit application by unions for a protest march last weekend was declined by police.
Mr Chaudhry told Christine Rovoi there needs to be a national inquiry because workers in Fiji cannot freely assemble or express their rights.
