An advocate for the refugees being held in Papua New Guinea at the behest of Australia says a number have been moved to a new prison facility in Port Moresby.

Ian Rintoul of the Refugee Action Coalition says the new Bomana Immigration Facility is annexed to the Bomana Prison.

He says a number of refugees moved from Manus Island to Port Moresby have now been placed in the new detention centre.

Mr Rintoul told Don Wiseman Australia has clearly had a major hand in developing the new facility.
