Fiji's NFP is concerned at the rising drug crime

Fiji's opposition is calling for an independent inquiry into the increasing incidences of drug-related crimes and drugs found across the country.

National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad says the investigation would not be designed to apportion blame to anyone but its objective would be to bring out the issues and areas of concern.

He says information gathered from the inquiry could be used for policy, programmes and laws.

Professor Prasad also urged Fiji to work with its neighbours to address the growing threat of the illicit drug trade in the region.
