Impact on welfare from climate change apparent in Pacific

From , 3:02 pm on 8 August 2019

The World Meteorological Organisation says evidence that climate change is a threat to global welfare can be seen in the Pacific.

The World Economic Forum this year listed extreme weather events and failure to adapt to climate change as two of the greatest risks facing the global economy.

The World Meteorological Organisation's director of development and regional activities says this translates to the Pacific, with its small islands among the most vulnerable to climate change.

Mary Power told Moera Tuilapea Taylor this makes the role of the weather services in the Pacific critical in many ways.
