Flash flood predictions set to improve for Fiji

Fiji is hoping to introduce a new early warning system to predict flash flooding ahead of the next cyclone season in November.

The Director of the Fiji Meteorological Service, Misaeli Funaki, has recently attended a workshop with training on the system.

He told Jenny Meyer hydrologists will be able to move from real time river levels measurements to predictive graphics with improved lead times ahead of intense rainfall events.
