Australia logic on climate change self defeating - Greenpeace

From , 3:03 pm on 26 July 2019

While the Australian Government continues to push its so called Pacific Step-Up, the NGO Greenpeace says if they don't take action on climate change they should step aside.

The Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne, who is currently in Fiji for the Pacific Forum foreign ministers' meeting, says Pacific leaders should be pleased Australia is meeting its commitments to the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Under the Paris Agreement Australia is committed to cutting emissions per capita by 50 percent by 2030, but Greenpeace says because of its support for the coal export sector its current emission levels are rising.

Greenpeace Australia Pacific spokesperson, Joe Moeono-Kolio, told Don Wiseman the Australia logic is self defeating.
