Papua New Guinea's Minister of Civil Aviation has delegated his powers under the Civil Aviation Act to the PNG Accident Investigation Commission.

Lekwa Gure says this is to ensure PNG fully complies with its obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

The commission's Investigations Manager, Alan Stray, spoke to Johnny Blades about the delegation.

He said the significance of the minister's move relates to Annex 13 to the convention concerning investigations into aircraft accidents and incidents, as well as safety recommendations.
