Pitcairn Island is hoping to attract astrotourists after its inauguration this week as the world's newest Dark Sky Sanctuary.
Light restrictions are in place and locals are training as night sky guides with the help of a professor of astronomy John Hearnshaw.
Heather Menzies of Pitcairn Islands Tourism says the four islands of the Pitcairn group are the first island group to get the designation from the International Dark Sky Association.
