The Pacific Community's director general says the Pacific agency is in the black for the first time in years.
Colin Tukuitonga, whose term is about to finish, says this was a key matter he was able to put before the governors of the development organisation when they met last week in Noumea.
The SPC as it's known, is governed by 26 member countries and territories and is the main scientific and technical organisation in the region.
It deals with a wide range of issues from climate change to gender equality and food security.
Dr Tukuitonga told Don Wiseman about some of the main issues discussed at the meeting.
