Deaths after vaccinations makes many Pacific people fearful

From , 3:04 pm on 11 June 2019

A South Auckland doctor says the recent death of two babies in Samoa shortly after receiving a vaccine against measles has made many Pacific people fearful of getting vaccinated against the disease, despite urgent calls by officials to do so.

As of yesterday the Auckland Regional Public Health Service confirmed 100 cases of measles in the city with most of the latest cases identified over the last 5 days in South Auckland alone.

The Counties Maunkau DHB where the country's largest Pacific population live is urging locals to make sure they are protected, following a spike in the number of measles cases in the area.
