A community advocate says his Queen's Birthday Honour is recognition for all of those striving to help the Pasifika community get ahead.
Tunumafono Avaula Fa'amoe has become a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the Pacific community and help.
After becoming blind in the late 1990s, Tunumafono formed an organisation to help Pasifika people with disabilites navigate what he says was a difficult health system.
Since then, he's become a strong voice for those with disabilities and the wider South Auckland community.
He told Jamie Tahana he's humbled by the award.
