Pacific feminists urged to stay strong

Pacific feminists can overcome distance and use their combined strength in fighting for gender equality, human rights and justice in the region.

That's the view of prominent Tongan human rights defender Joey Joleen Mataele.

Joey Joleen Mataele was among Pacific feminists who gathered in Fiji this week to share insights, challenges and stories in their push for positive social change.

Tonga's Leitis Association co-founder is at the forefront of transgender rights and she told Sally Round pushing for change is like the traditional craft of weaving.
